PACKAGING

 

Proper entry of the packaging is critical to correct pricing and accounting.

 

Packaging can be entered with a simple PACK/SIZE entry field or with a more detailed breakout.  If the PACK/SIZE filed is left blank it is filled in on the order with a concatenation of the packaging fields.  The example below is for mushrooms. The filled in PACK/SIZE for 250 cartons is shown as: .

 

 

Price/Qty is Per

The choices are Unit of Measure and Pack Type.

 

          Unit of Measure

          Sales of bulk products are normally done in units of measure (pounds, kilograms, ounces, etc.).  The fields that need to be filled in are:

 

          Net Pack Qty: The internal weight of product in the package.

          UOM: You can select from predefined units of measure of add your own.  Please note that conversion from one unit to another is not                     available at this time.

          Package Type:  What is the material packed in?  Normally this is a carton, pail, box etc..

          Gross Pack Qty:  This is the weight of the package with the packing material.

          Units per Pallet:  This will be used to calculate a pallet weight based on the UOM.

 

 

          Pack Type

          Products packed inside smaller items are defined with Pack Type.  An example is 24 pouches of Memphis Style Rub in a carton.  Each                     bottle needs to be defined and the overall weight of the carton.

 

          Net Pack Qty: The is the number of items in the carton.  In this example 24 pouches.

          UOM:          Enter the item type.

          Package Type:  The packaging for the whole unit.  In this case carton.

          Net Pack Weight:  This is the weight of each item in the carton. 

          Gross Pack Qty: For Pack Type it is the same as the Net Pack Qty.

          Gross Pack Weight: It is the same as the Net Pack Weight.

          Net Item Weight is the weight of the product in the item.

          Gross Item Weight is the same as Net.

          Item UOM: Weight of product in item based on a unit of measure.  In this case 4 ounces of product is in each pouch.

          Item Type: The internal packaging of each item.  In this case pouches.

 

          The check box calculate weight via Pack/Item weight must be checked for the weight to transfer properly.
