Video for simple repair

Have you had the situation where when printing to Excel the result pops up in a browser?  In Naviteer the selection for printing to Excel creates an XML file.  XML stands for eXtensible Markup Language is a markup language much like HTML designed to store and transport data.  Excel uses this format to create xlsx (Excel) files.  Sometimes your personal computer is not setup to read an XML file in Excel.  In that case, it will show up in a browser and display like shown below.

To automatically open in Excel you need to set the XML file type to open in Excel.

Here is a process to link the XML file to Excel on a PC.

1. Go to Start > Settings > Apps > Default Apps > scroll down to > Choose default app by file type

2. Scroll down list until you find .xml

3. Click on associated program and choose Excel

4. Exit Settings.

4. If Excel is not available in the list find an .xml file and right click on it.

5. Go to Properties.

6. Click Change button.

7. If Excel is not in the program list scroll down to more apps and scroll again to Look for another app on this PC.

8. For 64 bit: Go to Program Files/Microsoft Office/root/Office 16 and scroll down to Excel.exe and select ii and press open button.  For 32 bit: Go to Program Files (x86)/Microsoft Office/root/Office 16 and scroll down to Excel.exe and select ii and press open button.

9. Association will change to Excel.

10. Press Apply and OK to keep changes.

Fix for MAC

1.Right-click on a file that uses the file type you'd like to change the default for. For example, one with a .jpg extension (a photo).

2.Click on Get Info in the pop-up.

3.Click Open With if the section isn't already expanded.

4.Click the dropdown and choose an app.

5.Right-click on a file, click Get Info, click Open With, click the dropdown and select an app

6. Click Change All...

7. Click Continue when the Finder asks you if you're sure.

8. Click Change All, click Continue

Now any time you open a file with that extension, the Finder will automatically open it with the app you've selected.
